Aaron Binder is the State Treasurer of New Jersey, appointed by Governor Mikie Sherrill and unanimously confirmed by the State Senate on March 3, 2026. He had served as Acting Treasurer since January 20, 2026, following Governor Sherrill's inauguration. Binder is a veteran state budget official who previously served as Deputy State Treasurer from 2021 to 2026 under Governor Phil Murphy and Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio. In that role, he assisted with management of the state budget and oversaw the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of Revenue and Economic Analysis, and the Division of Taxation.
Prior to joining the Murphy administration, Binder spent 16 years on the leadership team of the New Jersey Assembly Majority Office, most recently as Deputy Executive Director. During his tenure with the Assembly Majority Office, he served as the lead aide for the Assembly Budget Committee and oversaw key policy areas including public employee pensions and benefits, banking and insurance, transportation, and health care. Before his legislative service, he held financial roles at Congreso De Latinos Unidos in Philadelphia, Amtrak, and the City of Philadelphia.
