Kimberly Guadagno is a New Jersey political figure and attorney who served as lieutenant governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018. She was the first person to hold the office following the creation of the position through a state constitutional amendment. Guadagno served concurrently as secretary of state of New Jersey during her tenure in the administration of Governor Chris Christie.
Before becoming lieutenant governor, Guadagno served as sheriff of Monmouth County from 2008 to 2010. Her career in public service also included work in law enforcement and federal prosecution. She served as an assistant United States attorney for the District of New Jersey and later worked as a prosecutor in Monmouth County.
Guadagno later entered statewide electoral politics as the Republican nominee for governor of New Jersey in the 2017 election. Her campaign focused on issues including taxation, economic development, and state fiscal policy.
