Chief Justice, Supreme Court of New Jersey
Stuart Rabner is the chief justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He was appointed to the position in 2007 and serves as the head of the state’s judicial branch. As chief justice, Rabner oversees the administration of the New Jersey court system and presides over the state’s highest court.
Before joining the judiciary, Rabner served as attorney general of New Jersey from 2006 to 2007. In that role, he supervised statewide law enforcement operations, including the Division of Criminal Justice and other state legal offices. His work included oversight of criminal justice policy and enforcement initiatives.
Rabner previously worked as chief counsel to Governor Jon Corzine and earlier served as a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. His career has included roles in both state and federal legal institutions prior to his appointment to the state’s highest court.
